Terms & Community Guidelines

The deal, in plain language.

Version 1.0 — effective September 21, 2026

These terms cover every FireFront app: Command (timesheets, crew, vehicles, payroll records), Maps (live incident mapping) and Echo (the community). One account covers all three, so one set of terms does too. Our Privacy Policy is part of this agreement.

The agreement

FireFront is operated by FireFront Technologies L.L.C., Kalispell, Montana. When you create an account or use any FireFront app, you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorized to bind it, and “you” means both you and that company.

You must be at least 16 years old to hold a FireFront account. The apps are workplace and professional community tools built for wildland fire personnel; they are not directed to children.

Accounts

One account per person, across every app. Keep your password to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has gotten into it.

Your account is yours. Leaving a company keeps it, along with your certificates, qualifications and history. You can pause or delete your account at any time from My account in any app, or at firefront.dev/delete-account. Some records your employer is legally required to keep — payroll and timesheet history in particular — survive deletion of your account in your employer’s books. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is kept and for how long.

Subscriptions and payment

Firefighters never pay. Maps and Echo are free to individual users, and being on a company’s crew in Command never costs you anything.

Companies subscribe to FireFront Command. The price is flat — no per-seat, per-truck or per-resource charge — and is shown before you subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically for the billing period you chose until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not pro-rate partial periods except where the law requires it or where a mid-cycle plan change makes a credit obvious.

If a subscription lapses, your records do not disappear. The account becomes read-only: you keep access to your history and can export it. Pausing for the off season stops billing and keeps your records readable.

We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice before the change affects you, and the notice will say what the new price is and when it starts. Taxes are your responsibility where they apply.

Community guidelines

Echo is a professional community for people who do a dangerous job together. These rules exist so it stays worth showing up to. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behavior toward other members. Breaking these rules gets content removed and can get an account suspended or terminated, in serious cases immediately and without warning.

1

No harassment or targeting. No threats, stalking, pile-ons, slurs, or abuse aimed at a person or a crew. Disagree with the tactic, not the human.

2

No hate. Nothing that attacks or demeans people over race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

3

Casualties and close calls are handled with care. Do not post identifiable images of anyone killed or seriously injured, and never before next of kin have been notified. Do not post someone else’s accident, entrapment or medical incident without their agreement. If you are unsure, wait.

4

Nothing that endangers an active incident. No posting live crew positions, tactical detail or medical traffic that could put people on the line at risk, and nothing that could be mistaken for an official order, dispatch or weather product.

5

Respect the restrictions you work under. Some incidents, agencies and contracts restrict photography and disclosure. Honoring those is on you, not on us.

6

No sexual content, gratuitous gore, or violence as entertainment. Fire is graphic enough on its own; post it for the lesson, not the shock.

7

No illegal activity, and nothing that promotes self-harm. Including the sale of anything that cannot legally be sold.

8

Be real. No impersonating another person, crew, company or agency. No fake credentials or qualifications. No spam, scams or bulk unsolicited promotion.

9

Post what is yours to post. Only upload content you made, or have permission to share. See Footage of other people.

10

Honor the remix switch. If a post is not marked remixable, do not download it, rip it or re-post it. See Downloading & remixing.

Reporting and moderation

Every post and every message has a Report action, and you can block any member — blocking hides their content from you and stops them contacting you.

We review reports within 24 hours and remove content that breaks these guidelines, along with the accounts of members who repeatedly or seriously break them. Reporting is not the only path: we also remove content we find ourselves.

If your content or account is actioned, we will tell you what rule was broken. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that notice or write to [email protected] and a person will look at it again.

Who owns your content

You own what you post. Your photos, your video, your writing, your maps — they stay yours. Posting to FireFront does not transfer ownership, and we will never sell your content or license it to anyone outside the community.

To actually run the service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, re-encode, resize and display your content, and to show it to the people you posted it to. That licence exists only so the apps can work — storing a video means copying it, showing it on a phone means resizing it. It ends when you delete the content, except for copies sitting in routine backups, which age out, and anything we must keep by law.

We may show your public Echo posts in the parts of FireFront that are visible without signing in, and in our own material about the product — but only public posts, only with your name on them, and never in a way this agreement otherwise forbids. If you would rather we did not, say so at [email protected] and we will stop.

Downloading and remixing

This community makes extraordinary footage, and most of it dies on a phone. We would rather it got cut together — season recaps, crew tributes, training breakdowns, the fire year as the people who worked it saw it. So Echo is built to let members download each other’s photos and video and edit them into something new.

By posting media to Echo you grant other signed-in FireFront members a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to download it, and to cut, re-time, trim, colour, caption, score and combine it with other material, and to share the result on Echo or off it. This is the remix licence, and it is on by default for media you post.

Echo is more than photos and video, so this section and the two after it are agreed separately from the rest of these terms: the first time you attach a photo or video, the app shows you a short version, lets you choose your remix default right there, and records your agreement. If you decline, you can still use everything else in Echo — you just can’t post media.

Four conditions come with it:

1

Credit the creator. Name the person whose footage you used. On Echo, the built-in credit does this for you. Off Echo, name them in the video, the description or the credits, and link back where the format allows it. Never strip or obscure someone’s credit, watermark or name.

2

Don't sell it. You may not sell the edit, licence the footage on, submit it to a stock library, or run it as paid advertising for someone else’s product. You may use it for your own crew or company — recruiting, an about-us reel, a safety briefing, a season wrap — and you may run a monetized channel or feed where it appears, as long as the footage itself is not what is being sold.

3

Don't misrepresent anyone. No edit that makes a person appear to say or do something they did not, no implying anyone endorses you or your company, and no cutting an accident, entrapment or fatality loose from its context. Sections 3 and 4 of the community guidelines apply to your edit exactly as they applied to the original.

4

Honor the switch. Only download media that is marked remixable. If a post has remixing turned off, you do not have this licence for it — including if you find a copy somewhere else.

Your edit is yours. The creative work you put into a recap — the cut, the pacing, the music, the story — belongs to you. What does not become yours is the underlying footage: every clip stays owned by whoever shot it, under this same licence. That means you cannot sell your recap, and it also means nobody else can take your recap and sell it either.

This licence runs between members. It is not a grant to the public: someone who is not a FireFront member has no right to download or reuse your media, and posting a remix off-platform does not give the audience there permission to cut it up again.

Turning remix off

Some footage should not be anyone else’s raw material — a burnover, a memorial, a close call, or just something you would rather keep as yours. So the remix licence is a switch, in two places:

For everything you post — one setting in Settings → Content sharing, which sets the default for every new post. For a single post — a switch in the composer, and on any post afterwards, which overrides the default for that post alone. Companies control the same switch for content posted under a company profile.

Turning it off removes the download action, marks the post as not remixable, and withdraws the licence in this section for that media from that moment.

It works going forward, not backward. Copies people already downloaded, and edits they have already made and published, are not recalled by flipping the switch — we have no way to reach into someone else’s hard drive or an edit already posted elsewhere. If you need something taken down, ask the person who made it, or write to [email protected] and we will help where we can.

And a straight answer about what the switch is: it removes permission and it removes the download button. It is not copy protection. Anyone determined enough can screen-record a video, on any platform, and no service can prevent that. Doing it here breaks these terms and is grounds for removing an account — but if a piece of footage would truly damage you to lose control of, the safe answer is not to post it publicly.

Deleting a post, or your account, withdraws the licence for anything not already downloaded, on the same going-forward basis.

Footage of other people

Only post media you made or have permission to share, and only where the people in it would expect it. A crew shot at the buggy is one thing; someone’s worst day is another. When you post media with other people in it, you are confirming you are entitled to — and the remix licence you grant covers only your own rights in it, never theirs.

If you appear in someone else’s post and want it down, report the post or write to [email protected]. We take those seriously, and we weigh them in favour of the person in the frame.

Suspension and termination

You can stop at any time — pause or delete your account from My account.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms or the community guidelines, that puts other members or the service at risk, or where we are required to by law. Serious cases — threats, content involving minors, anything endangering people on an incident — are immediate. Otherwise we tell you what happened and give you a way to respond.

If we terminate your account for something other than a breach, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data, and refund the unused part of any subscription you have paid for.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version and effective date at the top of this page always say which one is current, and the previous version stays available on request.

For material changes — and any change to the remix licence counts as material — we will give you at least 30 days’ notice in the apps and by email before they take effect, so you have time to change your settings, remove content or close your account. Continuing to use FireFront after that means you accept the new terms. Changes never apply retroactively to media already downloaded under the old ones.
