Child Safety Standards

Keeping children safe.

Effective September 23, 2026

These standards apply to every FireFront app — Command, Maps and Echo, the community where members post photos, comments and messages. They sit alongside our Terms & Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy.

Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitationMembers must be 16 or olderReport in the app or by emailReported to NCMEC as the law requires

What is prohibited

FireFront has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). On any FireFront app, you may not post, send, request, link to or store:

  • any sexual or sexualized image, video or text involving a minor, real or generated;
  • content that sexualizes children or presents sexual contact with a minor as acceptable;
  • grooming — building a relationship with a minor, or with someone you believe is a minor, in order to sexually abuse or exploit them;
  • sextortion — threatening to share intimate images of a minor, or demanding them;
  • trafficking or offering a minor for sexual purposes, or any attempt to meet a minor for sexual contact.

This applies to posts, stories, comments, profile photos, direct and group messages, marketplace and service listings — everything.

Who can have an account

You must be at least 16 years old to hold a FireFront account. The apps are professional tools and a professional community for wildland fire personnel; they are not directed to children. An account we learn belongs to someone under 16 is closed.

How to report

In Echo: tap ⋯ on any post and choose Report post, or long-press a message and choose Report. Pick Inappropriate content and add a note if you can. You can also block the person from their profile, the post menu or the conversation, which hides them from you immediately.

By email, from anywhere: [email protected] with “Child safety” in the subject and a link to the content or the member’s name. You do not need an account to report. Do not download, screenshot or forward suspected abuse material yourself — a link or description is enough.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number) first. You can also report directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.

What we do

Child safety reports go to the front of the moderation queue and are reviewed as soon as they are seen, and always within 24 hours. When we find content or behavior that breaks these standards, we:

  • remove the content and take it out of every feed, profile and conversation;
  • terminate the account immediately, without warning, and prevent it from coming back;
  • report apparent CSAM to NCMEC’s CyberTipline, as United States law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) requires, and preserve what the law requires us to preserve for investigators;
  • cooperate with law enforcement on valid legal requests.

We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including the reporting and preservation requirements above.
